Hi Joe,

Rome really intrigues me, not only because of its colourful history (sometimes gorgeous, sometimes grotesque) but also because of the way it preserves that history.

As a city, it strikes me less as a museum and more as a vast, open-air wardrobe, in which an enormous variety of disguises and masks are kept for use by its inhabitants. Your photos capture this eternal costume ball in a way that would, I think, have appealed to the master poet of Rome’s many paradoxes – Fellini.
